International Adoptions in Russia

Here is what I just read on the US Embassy's website:

International Adoptions in Russia: "Message from the U.S. Embassy Moscow Adoptions Unit
We recognize that many prospective adoptive parents are concerned about the recent news reports citing a potential hold on adoptions of Russian children by American families. Please be advised that U.S. Embassy processing of I-600 Orphan Petitions and U.S. Immigrant Visas for adoption cases is continuing as usual. Russia has suspended the license of an individual adoption agency, but has not taken any broader action. We will update this website if any changes occur. If you have further questions or concerns, please email the U.S. Embassy adoptions unit at MoscowConsularR@state.gov."

shaking my head in disgust

By now many adoptive Russian parents have posted about and I believe ALL have heard about the outrageous act of an adoptive mother (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100409/ap_on_re_eu/eu_russia_adopted_boy) putting her son ALONE on a plane and sending him back to Russia with a letter stating she no longer wanted him.

I am deeply saddened by this act.

If you haven't heard, and even if you have, I'd like to point you to Amy's post (http://torussia-withlove.blogspot.com/). I read it last night and believe that she has made some great points.

I am also convicted of my need to update our blog.
